About Zadar and Island Ugljan

zadarZadar is the largest city located in Northern Dalmatia with an ideal geographical location. Its hinterland is full of fertile plains, straight districts and the Velebit Mountian, which separates it from continental Croatia and right in front of him is a myriad of beautiful islands and islets. There are 5 National Parks in Zadar’s vicinity: NP Krka, Paklenica and Northern Velebit on the Velebit Mountain, as well as the 2 most beautiful parks in Croatia: NP Plitvice which is only a 1.5 hour drive from Zadar and perhaps the most original National Park in Croatia – the Kornati Archipelago with its 140 islands and crowned cliffs are ideal for a Robinson Crusoe holiday.

In addition to the rich and colorful history, Zadar offers unique cultural programs (Sea Organs and The Greeting to the Sun which have become modern icons of this city). The Sea Organs are an architectural marvel built in 2005 beneath the water of the city’s waterfront. Right next to the sea organs is The Greeting to the Sun, which serves as a spatial installation in the form of an amphitheater surrounded by stone blocks stylizing the view of all the planets in the Solar System and their orbits. It is at this part of the waterfront where the famous Alfred Hitchcock had once said that this is the most beautiful sunset in the world.
